Management movement fever
April 18, 2006 - 10:16am In: Chutes & Ladders
There seems to be a flurry of movement of late in the management
strata of VoIP-related companies. Last week Nortel named IBM
executive Dietmar Wendt as president of global services. This
week Nortel announced another IBM executive, Lauren Flaherty,
is joining the company as chief marketing officer. UTStarcom
EVP and COO Mike Sophie has resigned to pursue other opportunities.
Meanwhile, Viseon, a developer and manufacturer of patented
personal broadband communications solutions, is searching
for a CEO to manage expected sales growth. Also, Vistula
Communications Services, a provider of hosted, managed
VoIP services, has appointed Keith Markley
as CEO. This suggests that the VoIP industry itself is undergoing
a transition. These moves, if they play out right, should
help the industry make a needed transition to value-added
services.
