DIRECTV Tests VoIP Waters

DIRECTV is considering rolling out VoIP service to its satellite subscribers.

The company recently formed a partnership between Hicks Holdings LLC and The DIRECTV Group Inc. named DirecPath, which is working with VoIP provider Vistula Communications Services Inc. in a six-month pilot program. If all goes as planned, DirecPath will offer bundled DIRECTV programming, and broadband voice, data and security services for MDUs and gated communities.

Vistula developed the V-Cube IP PBX platform.
